Facts: Leopards are big cats living throughout Asia and Africa. Famously recognized by their spots, Leopards' habitats include savannah, forests, and desert areas; they hunt using stealth. There are a number of subspecies of leopard which have differing conservation statuses; for instance, the Amur leopard of Siberia is considered to be critically endangered, while the African leopard has a "lower-risk" status. Cubs are born two or three to a litter with smoky gray coats and nurse for about three months. Like many other wild cat species, Leopards (and their prey) have been poached and have lost much of their habitats due to logging and wildfires. There exists another animal called the snow leopard, which is considered not to be either a big cat or small cat. Snow leopards, native to mountainous central Asia, are endangered but recovering.
