Facts: The cougar is a wild cat found throughout Central and South America and parts of western North America. Second only to the jaguar in size among cats in the Americas, Cougars prefer to stealthily hunt large prey, such as deer, but will hunt smaller animals when necessary. Cougars are known by many names, including puma, panther, and mountain lion; there are over 40 names used in the English language alone, though frequently only one or two are used in a given region. They can weigh around 150 pounds (70 kg; sometimes over 200 pounds, or 90 kg) and measure seven or eight feet long. Litters generally consist of 3-4 cubs. Some cougars live in the eastern United States, though one such example, the Florida panther, is critically endangered. (facts from Wikipedia.org - Cougar)
